Richdel troubleshooting

Question
A lady I work with has a Richdel 476PR that is not displaying anything on the LED display. Has power as she states she can feel the case "humming" when plugged in and that sensation goes away when unplugged. The LED is used to program ON/OFF cycles. She has tried manual with no luck. She is going to recheck the valve positions for water outside as the valves were in opposing positions in relation to the line (one across and one parallel to the line).Cannot find anything in the operating guide that helps and not much info on-line. Any ideas??

Answer
Hey Chris, I hope this helps. More than likely, the controller is faulty, and you need to replace it. Once the circuit board goes out, it is not worth repairing. What you need to do, is when you disconnect the field wires from the terminal strip in back of the controller, mark which wire goes to what terminal (#1, #2, common, etc.) so the automatic valves will still work. For the valves to be on(ball type valves) the handle should be parallel to the valve. If the handle is perpendicular, then it is off. Another good website for irrigation information is: irrigationtutorials.com. Let me know if I can be of anymore help, thanks and have a good day.
