System Outage

Question
My main water pipe for my system broke last Thursday. I shut off the water at the main meter by the street while I repaired the break. I turned the water back on later that night when I finished. Now when I turn on the system at the box in the garage, the box says the system is on, but water is not going to any of the stations. I have unplugged the box for about 30 seconds, then plugged back in and the same thing is still happening. Any suggestions ?

Answer
Hey Tommy, I would suggest checking the area where you repaired the pipe and make sure that you haven't damaged the wires going from the controller to the valves. Alot of times the field wires are run with the main pipe. If it is not the wire, then I would suggest checking the valves and make sure that a lot of dirt or debris has entered them and is not allowing them to open. Most valves can be cleaned out by simply taking them apart. A good website to help understand a valve is www.irrigationtutorials.com. The last thing would be to check your controller and make sure it is working. You can check your voltage going to the valves with a volt/ohm meter. Simply turn on a valve and in the back of the controller check your voltage between the terminal strip with the negative lead touch the common terminal, and the positive lead touch the station # you are turning on. Your voltage should read between 22 to 26 volts. If your not getting a good reading, then the controller might be bad.Good luck and have a great day.
