Cucumbers for a novice

Question
Hi there. I am growing a backyard garden for the first time and have a cucumber question. I'm growing a "National Pickling Cucumber" variety-- and have heard some conflicting information about male flowers.  Should I picking these so that the fruits don't pollinate and become bitter? Or should I just leave them alone? It seems weird to me that they would even grow without pollination.

Also, I have a second question about Crookneck summer squash-- do I need to do anything to help these fertilize?
Thanks,
Cordelia

Answer
Hallo there:
You do not need to do anything with cucumbers for polination. However you can do something for the crookneck summer squash if you want to do it. If there are bees polinate them you do not need to do anything too.

Thank you for asking me the question.
