Wilting tomato plants(patio)

Question
My patio tomatoes have been great looking till just the last couple of day. I have fertilized them and water them everyday. They have plenty of green tomatoes on them but the red ones seem to rot as they grow red. My sprinkler for the grass might hit them-can they be getting too much water. The leaves are all wilting! What can I do?

Answer
Dear Teresa,
It sounds like too much water and too much fertilizer.  Too much water will cause the fruit to rot and often the leaves turn yellow.  Too much fertilizer will cause the plant to be "leggy" and also can burn the leaves to wilt.  Back up on the water and the fertilizer, a bit.  Try watering every other day and fertilize much less frequently.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
