Starting tomatoes

Question
i started my tomato seeds indoors with organic potting soil and have transplanted the babies into larger pots which i accidently used Miracle Grow moisture control soil to repot (only two of them) I am waiting for spring to put out the plants into my composted  enriched with organic amendments garden area. will the Miracle gro potting soil make the tomatoes non organic. I hate using any fake products in my food planting. Advise please.

Answer
Elise, the Miracle Gro potting soil uses synthetic fertilizers, therefore it is technically non-organic. A viable alternative would have been a compost/peat mixture. However, the small amount of fertilizer in the mix will not harm the plants. The key to organic gardening is making sure you have a rich organic mix in the garden, which in turn will provide a constant source of nutrients throughout the growing season.

Good luck, and best regards.

Mike
