Could used esspresso grounds or any used grounds be used? Will it compost faster?

Absolutely. I have gone so far to ask our local coffee house for their used coffee grounds. Fortunately, they are all too happy to give them away.

Coffee grounds are an excellent choice for organic amendments. They decompose very quickly and are a great source of nutrients for plants. I keep a large used can under our kitchen sink. Every morning we place the used grounds in the can. When full, I simply transport them out to the compost pile.
