Arrangment filler

Question
I love having fresh flowers in my home and have recently planted quite a few different types specifically for cutting.  In the past I have purchased the small bouqets in the grocery store and arranged them when I got home.  This seems to work out great because I get the fun of arranging them and with 2 or 3 of the bouqets I usually have all that I need to make a nice looking arrangement.  Now that I will be cutting from my own yard I have realized that I have nothing for filler.  Can you recommend anything that I can plant in my own yard that will still give me that pre-arranged look?  I'm familiar with babies breath, and while I do love it, Im looking for more of the leafy filler you typically find in arrangements.  Thanks so much for your time.  =o)

Answer
Dear Becky,

Have you got room for a eucalyptus tree? (Eucalyptus gunni) You can keep it trimmed, so it shouldn't get too big and it's evergreen also.

Viburnum tinus is another evergreen shrub which is great for filling and it also flowers during the winter months.

Try growing some asparagus, as the tops from these make a great filler and the bottoms are great to eat!

Ivy is also very pretty, as is Vinca but this can become very invasive, so be careful.

Hope these help

Sue
