hydrangea cylinder arrangement

Question
I live in the vurgin islands & I am planning on making my own hydrangea arrangement (2 jumbo) in a 20" cylinder vase- The florist suggested placing the 2 Hydr in shallow  plastic saucer like dish on top of the cyl vase- I am fearful because the it is not secure- plus i am submerging two roses in water- can I hypothetically just do a lattice with clear tape at the top of the  vase and insert the two hydr- making sure the stems are submerged? I plan to put a two inch ribbon around the rim of the vase. Thanks the wedding is   10/23/10 Thanks in advance

Answer
of course you can! IF you like the saucer idea, you can glue the saucer to the top so its secure. I like the idea of the both flowers with the submerged flowers also! Its possible to take a hydranga apart and
submerg the hydrangea under water. Don't forget you can add a little bear grass to put a twist on things! Congratulations and wish I were in the islands at your wedding!
