Bonsai Gardenia

Question
I received 2 Bonsai Gardenia's as a gift. I followed all directions as to the care. 1 plant the leaves started turning yellow. The other plant bloomed and looked beautiful. The 1st plant then bloomed, but has continued to lose its leaves. The 2nd plant has now started turning yellow, both have some flower's. I live in Phoenix, AZ and hesitate putting the plants outside because of the heat. I have both plants near window's on the west side of my home. I water with a gardenia food every other week and daily with distilled water, I also spray with distilled water. Can you help me and tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanking you in advance.
Marcia

Answer
Hi Marcia,

You may be over watering the plants. Is the soil dry and are you sure the plant needs water? And i'm not sure, but are the plants outdoors or indoors. You should consider placing the trees outdoors. They need plenty of light to flower. Once placed outdoors you may need to water them daily. I would stop the fertilizer and/or use an organic fertilizer for a little while. Organic fertilizers are typically software on trees.

Can the retailer that sold you the plants provide you with care instructions. If you like, you can download care instructions from http://www.Learning2Bonsai.com You can also post bonsai specific questions on the community.
