With its deep purple-black leaves and brilliant summer blooms, 'Bishop of Llandaff' is a fine addition to the sunny bed or border. The 4- to 6-inch-round red-petaled flowers have deep purple and yellow centers, which are set off nicely by the plant's dark foliage. Care:
Provide full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Where hardy, protect from winter moisture and deep frosts by mulching heavily in late fall. Otherwise, lift tubers and store over winter.

Division in spring is preferred. Use a sharp knife to sever tubers ensuring that each division has at least one eye.
