Corepsis verticillata ‘Zagreb

Thread-leaved tickseed (Corepsis verticillata ‘Zagreb') kor-ee-OP-sis ver-tiss-ill-LAY-tah Genus:  Coreopsis

'Zagreb' produces star-like blossoms in egg-yolk yellow in early summer on plants 12 inches tall and wide. The sturdy, upright stems and finely textured foliage add delicate texture to the garden.

Noteworthy Characteristics: 

Looks good in drifts; site next to plants with contrasting foliage.

Care: 

Generally, grow coreopsis in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Deadhead in midsummer to encourage rebloom and to prevent self-sowing. It is tolerant of a variety of soils. It thrives on poor soils and is tolerant of heat, humidity, and drought. 

Propagation: 

Sow seed indoors in mid- to late winter at 55° to 61° F; divide in early spring.

Problems: 

Slugs, snails, bacterial spot, rust, Botrytis flower blight, aster yellows, powdery mildew, downy mildew, and fungal spots.
