Do you have unwanted pests in your home? If so, calm down and take a deep breath. Eliminating pests is not as challenging as you may think. You may even take on this pest control solution yourself. Read the following tips on pest control as they may be very helpful.

To control pests, take a look at your plumbing. Be sure all drains and sinks are unclogged around your home and inside your home. The organic matter that can build up in these is a delicious meal to both flies and cockroaches. Even if you're drains are all clear, still look at them every month.

Mosquitoes are a very annoying pest, so make sure there are no pools of stagnant water around the home or garden. That's because mosquitoes lay eggs in water; therefore, the larvae grow in water. Search for evidence of standing water and eliminate it.

Use outdoor sprays around your home to prevent insect entry. Make sure you spray your home's foundation, porches, steps, and other areas that are located near any windows and/or doors. Make sure you are keeping your eyes open for any cracks. Use caulk or something similar to seal these areas.

If you have a really critical pest control problem, think about changing all of your small appliances. Ask your family, friends or neighbors if you can use an extra toaster or coffee pot and eliminate the current ones you use. Bugs invade every inch of your home and especially prefer cozy places like the inside of appliances.

Are you dealing with an ant infestation? Mix some sugar and some borax together. Sugar attracts them and borax kills them. To make the mix, use a cup of each ingredient in a quart jar. Poke holes through the lid and then sprinkle the mixture around the foundation of your home and along baseboards.

Do you struggle with the booklouse? Remove any food that has been contaminated and clean your counters with a bleach solution. Be sure you take the food that's affected as far from the home as possible and throw it away in a sealed plastic bag.

To manage a bee infestation, you must call in an exterminator. You need to know whether these bees are domestic or African bees, which can be deadly.

It's important to understand that rats and mice are not picky eaters. You can use almost anything to bait a rodent trap. Even spoiled food works well in traps, so you can dispose of it this way.

Diatomaceous earth is a great idea for helping rid yourself of roaches. Sprinkle the diatomaceous earth wherever you see roaches. You can use diatomaceous earth; it will not hurt humans. The little particles kill insects within 48 hours by eating straight through their exoskeletons. The roaches might increase after doing this, but they should be gone after two weeks.

Unwashed items in your recycle bin can be a common attractant to pests. It is wise to store your recyclables outside your home. If this is impossible, then make sure every piece you place in your indoor bin is rinsed thoroughly. Sealed recycling containers are your best bet at not attracting pests while you dispose of your garbage.

There are many options these days when it comes to pest control. Whichever method you decide to use, be sure that it is safe for your family. Getting rid of the pests should be a priority, but do not jeopardize the health of your family and pets by using harmful chemicals.
