Backyard Design 101: How to Design on a Dime

The summer season is the perfect time to loosen up in the open air and take in the mild evenings that come after a scorching day. Gatherings are even better in the lower temperatures of the evening hours. It's a time for everyone to enjoy some time together laughing and having fun. There are unique things you can do tomake your backyard into a party spot without breaking the bank. Here are some tips to help you make the most out of the summer evenings to come.

Clean out the area outside. Space is the key here, so take the time to look through the garden tools, garbage, and miscellaneous stuff that's scattered in your back yard. A tool rack, a large storage bin, or a cabinet with doors are all perfect ways to store what you'll keep and keep what you need close at hand. Once the space has been cleared and you have more space to work with, get out the mower, cut the grass and edge it to make it look like a professionally landscaped space. A trimmed yard gives the look that will be sure to impress and is key to any party spot.

Now that your space is cleaned up, decide where everyone will sit. If you don't have patio furniture, consider purchasing some at a garage sale or second-hand store and making it look like new by adding some new pillows and repainting with some rust-repelling spray paint. You can get much more value for your money of furniture for very little cost and then make it look just like new. If you don't have a shaded area in your yard, consider buying or renting a garden gazebo to provide shade for your guests. They are like extra outside rooms and have paneled doors that easily open up and make for an inviting area to sit. They can also serve to keep the flying insects out if you choose to serve the drinks and food inside the garden gazebo.

One of the best aspects of parties are the refreshments. Lemonade with frozen pureed fruit is a great way to add a flavorful twist to standard lemonade. You can also freeze lemonade into cubes and serve it with ice-cold fruit-flavored soda for a tart and tangy variation!

As the night comes in, the flying and biting pests come out, so consider buying the best insecticide you can find to make your evening last even longer. They can really eliminate or repel the pesky bugs and improve your outdoor environment for you and your guests. Additionally, if you don't have one already, you can buy an implement to keep a fire going outside for less than $200 from a local discount store. Do an online search for classified ads by individuals wanting to sell their outdoor items in good condition, due to a move or remodeling. This is a perfect way to get patio items at a huge discount than buying them brand-new from a store. As a suggestion, try stringing some lights outside to bring an added bit of sparkle to your evening party!
