Designing your home garden office

As more and more people are now working from home, having a makeshift space for your home office is now not feasible. Sitting on an uncomfortable chair in a cramped up workspace becomes unbearable in a situation where you are working 8-10 hours a day, six days a week. With such a tight working schedule, you are obviously going to be spending a lot of time in your home office. To be more comfortable and to concentrate on your work better, you would want a space that is aesthetically pleasing and well functioning instead of just a spare corner or a spare room in your house.

If you have an annex, a garage or a basement in your premises, you could easily transform it into an office in the garden. Before you begin your interior design, draw out a detailed floor plan to decide where electrical outlets will be placed, how you are going to place your doorways, windows and closets, and so on. In the process of designing your garden rooms, you might want to think about investing in ergonomic desks, chairs, and other furniture. Furthermore, keep in mind the height and width of the furniture so that there is enough space to move around. If you need to put up shelves to keep books, have them at a low level so that you can reach out for them without straining your body too much. Include proper lighting in workspace areas for you to be able to read properly. Place your monitor on a platform so that you do not have to look up and down and tilt your head regularly.

For home garden offices, wall-to-wall carpeting is not a good idea, especially when you are going to have people visiting you regularly the carpet will wear away fast. A better option is to have replaceable carpet tiles around the desk and then cover the rest of the area with ceramic tile or hardwood flooring. As for the paint colours to be used, neutral, soothing colours are the best option. You are going to be seated in the office during most of your awake time and you most certainly don't want to be looking at a bright red or a luminous green all day. Lastly, the amount of natural light coming into the room can be controlled by having blinds and shutters in front of windows.
