Red clay erosion control

Question
I am not sure if I am asking the right person. I have some steep 50-70% grades on my property in White County,GA of red clay soil that are in need of erosion control . My question is what is the product that I see applied to red clay hillsides at road construction sites that grows grass (rather quickly) to control the erosion? And Where can I find it?

Answer
Hi Mark, If you want to do it yourself, there are erosion mats available made with straw or excelsior.  You can get these with seed impregnated, but it is cheaper to buy and sow the seed and then cover with the mat. Any farm store or garden center can order these from their landscape supply distributor.
Any landscaper can do this for you or a step up is hydroseeding.  It's a water cannon that sprays a wood fiber (feels like dryer lint), glue and seed mix that does the same thing.
