Question
my husband has used the same watering can for lawn feed and ericasious plant feed and has now used it for tomato feed on the tomatoes and runner beans - im worried - will it be ok to eat the tomatoes and runner beans

The vegetables are fine to eat.  Plant food is plant food, only the percentage of nutrients varies in fertilizer.  You would not want to water the vegetables with an azalea fertilizer on a regular basis.  It would lower the pH over time below where vegetables do best.  Lawn food is high in nitrogen which would cause excessive growth on your vegetables, but using the same watering can will have no effect on the plants.  Jim
