Hi Leigh,
I've got a garden pond with cascade fall, [plastic] that I moved from another house. I didn't set the original one up, so other than digging the hole I'm at a loss on what to do to get ready for goldfish.  It will be filled with well water if that makes a difference.  Also we have a '05 graduation here next year so if you have any ideas to make this look like a million on a shoe string budget I'd appreciate it.
thanks

Fill with water turn on the waterfall and put a few feeder goldfish in and some plants, if in a sunny area be sure they are floaters to filter the sunlight. Sunlight causes algai growth. Check out the web to build a bio filter. Hope this helps if not ask away.

Answer
No you shouldn't need chemicals unless you have a problem.
You can put some hardy plants ind and fish but DO NOT feed them until the water is about a constant 60 degrees. If you do you run the risk of poisoning them because their digestive system may not get rid of the waste.
