muddy and cloudy water

Question
I just recently made a small (approx 6' X 4' X 2' deep) pond in TX.  I have 4 small goldfish and I added a few plants.  When it first rained some mud ran off into the pond and got the pond muddy and cloudy.  I have fixed the run off problem since then but I can't get the pond clear.  I have used a product called "Pond clear" by Jungle but nothing has happened.  Can you advise how I can get the water clear without draining the water and refilling.

Thanks for your help,
David

Answer
Hi David,
Thanx for your question.  It will take a couple of weeks for the mud to completely settle.  Any time the fish stir up the mud, that will add to some cloudiness.  One thing you may try to do is purchase a pond vacuum, available at nurseries that specialize in water gardens and vacuum up the residual mud.  I hope this helps.
Tom
