PRUNNING POND IRIS

Question
I'M WONDERING IF I CAN PRUNE POND IRIS LIKE I DO MY GARDEN IRISES?  THE POND IRIS CAN LOOK A LITTLE RAGGY.  LEAVES THAT BEND AND FALL INTO THE WATER.  I JUST REPOTTED MY PURPLE IRIS THIS PAST MONTH AS THE RACCOONS SEEM TO LOVE MY POND EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT A LARGE POND, ABOUT 100 GAL.  I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THE IRISES.  THANKS

Answer
Hi Carol:  If the iris have already bloomed and are dying back then feel free to prune them.  If they are still blooming then just trim off the dying fronds/leaves.  Raccoons are great fisherman... if you have fish in there I would try to find a way to keep the raccoons out.  dave
