Travelers Palms

Question
We have 2 Travelers Palms planted between a privacy fence and the pool cage.  The trees are planted with the palm fronds going East & West, the trees face South.  This why we thought they'd be ideal for behind the pool.  Both trees(no visable trunks yet)are starting to twist to the East.  The trees are about 15 ft tall. Is there any way to stop this?  If not, can the trees be transplanted to another location?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Pam, it sounds like they are doing what any plant will do when it needs sunlight and that is lean toward the prevailing light; there really isn't much you can do about this, they have a strong root structure and moving them at this stage will be a chore to say the least. I would just prune the fronds that are twisting and try to keep it conformed, they are very much like Birds of Paradise, and it will do no harm at all to cut the fronds right at soil level. Nick
