Could you please tell me the best time to trim a Bartlett Pear tree?

Pruning is pretty straight forward. Each winter remove any vigorous upright shoots. As the ends of branches droop below the horizontal, shorten the branches by cutting into 2- or 3-year-old wood to create a more horizontally oriented branch.
