I HAVE A PLUM TREE IN MY BACK YARD(CHICAGO,IL)
THAT HAS WORMS IN THE ROOTS HOW CAN I GET RID OF THESE WORMS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.   MATT

If you are talking about earthworms just leave them alone.  If you are talking about worms that are boring into the roots that is a different story.  These are the larvae of boring insects that cause much damage.  Contact the UofI extension for specific control strategies.  I do not make specific pesticide recommendations over the Internet in this forum.
