Trees w/beetles

Question
Hello!  I hope you can help us.  We have a dogwood and a maple tree in the back yard, both trees have beetles on them, but the dogwood seems to be in bad shape. What can we do to get rid of them.  Thank you, Bev

Answer
I am going to have to guess since you did not say if the beeltes were eating the foliage or boring into the trunk and limbs, and since they are "on" both dogwood and maples I would guess these are Japanese Beeltes. These insects will feed on a latge number of plant species and defoliate the plants. They can be controlled with the use of insecticides. Here is a web site link that gives more information on Japanese Beetles and their control.
