Tree roots and structural damage

Question
I have a palm tree (it think it's a fan palm) and  birch tee planted too close to each other and very close to a fence bordering our neighbor.  Which tree would cause damage to the brick fence and which would you cut down?

Answer
Neither one of these trees (palm or birch) are known to cause structural damage from the root systems. If the fence it right next to any tree the tree as it grows may push the fence. I searched the internet and found no reference to palms or birches causing problem with their roots. So I would cut none. If the fence is having problems I would not think it is not coming from these two species. Sorry that is the best I can do.
