mimosa tree roots effect on rock foundations

Question
Hello,
I have a cute small mimosa tree 6 feet from my 1930's native stone foundation in
Fayetteville, Ar.  Will this mimosa tree as it gets bigger effect the structural
integrity of my foundation.....the rock wall is 6 inches above ground on the
exterior of the house, and looks to be 2 feet deeper below in the basement.  I
would hate to remove it, but will if my foundation will be compromised in the
future.  Thanks for your consideration of this little tree. (Now it's about 6 ft high
and is more of a branching bush rather than a single upright trunk.)  Kim

Answer
I would get rid of it, definitely not something you want growing right up next to the house. Besides the root issues, it's also a very wide-spreading tree and if you have to prune it to keep it from running into the house you'll ruin its natural umbrella form and it'll look pretty ridiculous.
