magnolia bush/tree

Question
I have a magnolia bush made to look like a tree.  Last fall I moved and transplanted it.  All winter it looked pretty good but last month I noticed that all the leaves had dried up with some turning brown.  Have I lost the bush or will it put new growth back out this spring?

Answer
Since I do not have a crystal ball and also do not know the details of the transplanting--type of soil it was growing in and is now in, amount of roots that were dug when transplanted, how it was planted ,the weather condition of the the site etc. it is almost impossible to say yes or no the tree will live. hardwoods do die back sometimes when transplanted and have the capability of resprouting from the roots system. I would just wait and see what happens this spring. Keep the soil around the tree damp but not wet and the tree should put out new leaves. Sorry that is the best I can do without seeing the tree and background data.
