Holly Tree Disease

Question
Larry I have three holly trees ranging from 20 ft to 35 ft. The leaves are turning yellow and falling off. There is also a greyish type mold on the bark. What do you recommend to help these trees?
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Rob
check soil for PH level and drainage, the hollies need acid soil and it has to be well drained. a simple soil test will tell you ph level, drainage can be checked by diging a hole and filling it with water to see how fast the water soaks in. it should not take more than 10 min to soak in. if longer you need to amend it some compost will help drainage. Also a product called holly tone will help acidify yoir hollies.  Good Luck  larry  ;-)
