Burning Bush-Compact or Full Size??

Question
Hi!
I have a burning bush that I need to move/transplant. I don't know if it is a compact version or full size at maturity. It was a gift.

It is about 7-8 years old and is currently about 4' X 4'. Now that I am asking this, I am thinking that if it is only this large at this age then it is probably a compact form?
Or it is an extremely slow growing full size one?

Would appreciate any info/advice?
Thanks Alot,
Pat

Answer
Pat,

I would guess that it is one of the compact forms available in the nursery trade.

Now it is my turn to ask a question.  I there sentimental value in this plant?

Do you know the work you have ahead of you to move to move this plant?  Digging this plant is going to cause severe damage to the root system.  Being 4x4 you will need a root ball about 24 inches across, about 150 - 200 lbs.  I am seeing a hernia in your future.

My advice would be to remove the current plant and purchase a new plant for the new location.  This will be better for the plant and better for your back.

Good luck in the garden.

Gary
