dying evergreen shrubs

Question
I have several evergreen shrubs that are turning brown and dying.  I don't know what kind they are, I just purchased the house this year.  They have needles that are first turning brown in patches, and then eventually the whole shrub goes. I don't see any bugs.  Do you know what could be killing them and what to use to salvage the last one remaining?  Also, would the root system still be in tact?  Any help would be appreciated.  As info, we had a drought this summer.

Answer
Jill,

There is no way for me to determine what is going with the plants with such sketchy infromation. I would recommend calling a tree care company in your area to physically examine the plants. This is really the only way to save the remaining plant.

Good luck,
Ed Gulliksen
