Rose Name

Question
My mother in law has a climbing deep red rose (almost maroonn in color) which was bought in Tyler many years ago.  We live in N. E. Texas, Texarkana, Zone 7-8.
It is one of the most fragrant roses I know of.
The petals are many with velvety surface and a small ^ in the middle of each petal.
Do you possibly know the name?
I have taken blossoms to local nurseries and the closest they said it came to was "Don Juan", but I have seen the "Don Juan" and the bloom is not as big as the one I am interested in.
Thank you for any help you might provide!

Answer
Hi Vencene-

Without being able to see the rose, I had to do a search on the Help me find roses website, and also Everyrose.com.
The search engine came up with the following results for a fragrant red climber - and I picked out the more common ones that would have been most likely commercially available here in the U.S.: Dublin Bay, Dortmund, Souvenir de Claudius Denoyel, Cramoisi Sup閞ieur, Climbing, Black Boy climbing, Climbing Black Magic, Dynamite.  Again, without being able to see it I can only guess.  I suggest you do a search on the Help me find Roses website or Everyrose.com.

Good Luck-

Carlene
