Can I plant roses on the west side of my home.  It get no morning sun however it does get 5 to 6 hours of good afternoon sun. I live in alabama

Roses need a minimum of 6 hours of full sun and afternoon sun is always stronger than the morning. You should defiantly be able to grow roses on the west side of your house. If you find that hybrid teas don't do well there as they require the most sun, then try shrub roses as they will be quite happy. Hope this helps.
