Spicey Kordana Rose

Question
I just received one as a gift. I live in Rhode Island can I plant this in the ground ?
thanks

Answer
These little roses were bred by Kordes in Germany as a patio type plant, and grow to abut 24 inches. However they are grown in greenhouses first and may be grown two ways. If your plant has one main stem then go ahead and plant it in the ground when there is no danger of frost. It will have to be hardened off first. Again because it was grown in a greenhouse under lights, the colour of the flower will chance to a darker shade once sunlight gets on it. I have even seen the shape of the flower change and become more attractive.
But if your plant has 4 thin cuttings in the pot (it is easy to see) then I would treat it with a little more care because those small cuttings are frail. Wait until the weather is warmer and then plant it outside. If you are interested, you can also do something else. Again wait until the weather has warmed up, take the plant out of the pot and divide the cuttings with a sharp knife and you will have 4 rose plants.
