When the flower dies how should you cut it off? I have heard that you cut it off a the first 5 leaf you come to. #2 How do you attach the roses to the Tressels.

Rose experts used to think that it was a wisdom to cut the flower off at the 5 leaf level.  That has now been disproved and you can just snap the dead flower off with your fingers or cut it off. Any material that is soft and will allow the rose cane to thicken as it grows does well in attaching the canes to the trellis. So you can use nylon ribbon, thick wool soft string. Just make sure you don't tie the canes very tight as rose canes become thicker when they grow each year.
