Yellow Leaves on my Roses

Question
Hi Tom,

We have two pink rose bushes that were planted before we moved here to Texas.  They produce enormous buds and huge, fragrant, beautiful medium pink roses that are very healthy looking.

The problem is the leaves.  There's a random yellowing that really distracts from the display, and I haven't a clue as to where to begin fixing the problem.

The bushes are watered about once a week at this time before the hot TX summer sets in when I will begin watering them about every other day.  I fed them regular Miracle Gro about a week ago, which has worked well in the past.

That's about as much as I can think of to go on.  Hope you can help.

Thanks,
Nancy

Answer
Hi Nancy,
Thanx for your question.  Leaves on roses can turn yellow if the plant is watered too much, rec eives too much fertilizer or is being attacked by aphids (the most common problem).  Use a horticultural soap (available at most nurseries) to control aphids.  Cut back on the water and Miracle Grow and see what happens.  I hope this helps.
Tom
