hydrandga not blooming

Question
I have three hydrandga plants for 4 or 5 years now and they have never bloomed.  The plants get full sun with a southern exposure.  The plants grow quite large and full and green...no blooms.  I was told they are lime loving and I "limed" them this spring and then every other week use miracle grow...still no blooms..what am I doing wrong?

Answer
Hi Dara,
Thanx for your question.  Stop using the Miracle Grow please and switch to Miracid.  Hydrangeas love acidic soil.  Apply according to the directions on the box.  Make sure the soil is well drained but that it is kept moist but not soggy.  Do not prune until after the plant blooms if you need to prune.  Remove all old dead branches.  The Miracle Grow will cause more green to grow than bloom.  The Miracid should balance everything out.  I hope this helps.
Tom
