Winterizing a Peony Bush

Question
I purchased this plant, (by accident) in the spring, and I need to know how to winterize it?  I live just off the ocean but in Alaska, so the winters do get below zero, but they don't stay zero for long, mostly at 10 to 15 degrees during the winter.

Answer
Hi Kathy,
Thanx for your question.  You can mulch your peony plants with 3 inches of cypress bark.  Remove the mulch carefully when the shoots appear in the spring.  Here is a link with information from the Univeristy of Alaska-Fairbanks on growing peonies in Alaska.  I hope this helps.
