not sure what to do...

Question
I read that it was ok to plant bulbs that have already
started to sprout, as long as the ground isn't already
frozen.

What if the ground is frozen and there is snow
outside? If I wait until it's a bit warmer, will they
come up next year if I plant them in April?

Or what if I'd just put them into a pots with soil and
set it outside, or leave the pots inside? will they
grow?  Or should I just go quick put them someplace
cold to stop the growth?

I have hyacinths, tulips, daffodils, muscari...it'd be
such a shame if i killed all these poor bulbs.

Sorry to bother you, thanks for any help you may have
to offer, this will be our first spring in our new
home and I'm hoping the flowers I planted in fall will
come up..I've never done this before! ;)

Answer
Hi Jasmynn,
Please don't apologize for asking questions on this site.  That's what it is for and we all want you to feel comfortable to ask whatever you want.  Everyone is new at something.

If the ground where you live is not frozen, I would go ahead and plant my bulbs.  The tops may die back as it may get cold again before spring but this will generally not kill the bulb.  It may go back into a semi-dormancy until it warms up again.  After planting the bulbs if you think it might get really cold again, spread a layer of straw on top of the planting and this should help protect them.  I hope this helps.
Tom
