Pampas Grass

Question
I have many many Pampas Grass plants and I would like to start more from the seeds  - how do I do that, I'm in AZ

Answer
Hi Ash Lee,
Thanx for your question.  Pampas grass seeds can be harvested in the late fall from the feathery plumes of the plant.  The seeds will look pretty much like other grass seed only larger.  Allow the seed to dry out for a week or two.  Start seedlings 10 weeks before they are due to be set outdoors.  Sow it on top of the soil in your pot and do not cover, they need light to germinate.  They should germinate in about 20 days at 75F.  Seeds from certain hybrids will not come true in otherwords, they will not exactly resemble the parent plant due to hybridization.  Plant the seedlings outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.  I hope this helps.
Tom
