Garden Mums - Houston, Texas

Question
I planted 3 Plants of garden mums in my garden during spring of 2010.  I pinched dead blooms as recommended.  Now they are taking over my flower bed.  They are very healthy and green, yet have not bloomed very much. I really need to thin them out, but do not know when and how.  I do not want to put them in shock or anything since it is very hot here in Houston.  Please HELP!

Answer
Hello Teresa

Could you tell me how your the 'Mums are taking over your garden?  For example, have the plants just got very big and are now crowding out the other plants?

I'm guessing that's the case, but I need to know for sure before I start advising you how to deal with the problem.

Please get back to me.

Gill
