Bracteantha

Question
Hi Tom,
I have resently purchased and planted Jumbo yellow Bracteantha and I wanted to know if  there is anyway to keep them as a perineal here in Northern New Jersey.
Thanks,
Vito

Answer
Hi Vito,
Thanx for your question.  Bracteantha is only hardy from USDA Zones 8-11 which is well south of New Jersey.  The plant is native to Australia.  You may be able to keep it as a potted plant and move the plant into an unheated garage that does not freeze for the winter and the plant will go dormant.  Water it once a week to keep the roots hydrated and then move back outdoors after the last frost.  Otherwise, you will have to treat it as an annual.  I hope this helps.
Tom
