Is a plant in a bedroom safe ?

Question
Hi ,

I would like to know whether it is safe to have a plant in the bedroom. I heard that it is unhealthy because it takes the oxygen. is that true ?

Thank you,

Gaelle

Answer
Gaelle,

Thank you for the high rating. I saw your request for my article, but I need your email address. Please send it to me  at [email protected] and ask for the article on plants and oxygen.

Regards,
Will

Hi Gaelle,

Plants are absolutely safe in bedrooms and in hospitals. That plants steal oxygen is an old myth that has been thoroughly debunked. Plants do use a small amount of oxygen at night, but during the day they create more oxygen than they use at night. For any 24-hour period it is a net plus of oxygen. Plants also use carbon dioxide which is what we exhale. That is why plants and animals (including humans) have been so compatible for eons.

I have written an article on this topic that I will email to anyone who sends a request to my address below.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
