Yucca and Hibiscus

Question
I have a Yucca and Hibiscus that I have has since spring that I keep on my screened in porch.  With winter approaching to I bring them in the house or can they withold colder temps.  I am in Kentucky.  Later in the week the low temps are to be around 29-30.  I am sure we will probably warm back up some but not sure how long it will last.  What about watering and pruning also?  Thank you for any information that you can provide.

Carol

Answer
Carol,

Both plants need to be indoors whenever the temps are going to drop below 45 degrees. They are tropical. They both need to be in the sunniest location possible in your home, getting 6-10 hours of sun a day if possible, the more the better.

If the hibiscus does not have buds or blooms you can prune all branches in half. Unless the yucca is very large it should not need pruning.

Water, the yucca needs to get bone dry between waterings so water every 2-3 weeks. The hibiscus should be watered well weekly. If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
