Question
what is the proper temperature for the aloe vera plant

Answer
Aloes -- used to treat sunburn and the unexpected kitchen stove burn or water scalding -- are hardy to USDA Zones 10-12.  That marks this plant as a thoroughly tropical succulent that needs warmth to do well.

You can read all about it at the Missour Botanical Gardens Kemper website (http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/plantfinder/Plant.asp?code=B628), which calls it the perfect houseplant for "dry sunny areas".

Don't over-water -- although tropical, this plant has substantial water reserves in its fleshy stems.  It grows in dry areas near the equator with rocky and sandy soil.  Drainage and heat are the keys to a happy, healthy Aloe vera.
