about my Pachira!

Question

Pachira= Fernanda Arme
I recently bought a Pachira tree in a pot for my house and now some of the leaves have started wilting and turning yellow.When I bought it was really beautiful and big, now doesn't look nice!

I'm in Wales and my house is quite warm inside.I've been following the directions that came with the tree - I've been watering it occasionally with time in between to let the soil dry a little and it's located about 4 feet away from a southern facing window.Does it need fertilizer?
I will send you a pict, it may help more...
Regards!!!

Fernanda Armellini

Answer
Hi Fernanda,

Thanks for the photo. It is hard for me to give a definitive answer because I cannot see the entire plant and its pot. Pachiras are very popular right now and they are grown by many inexperienced growers and often  potted in beautiful planters that are not conducive to plant health.

Pachiras do not like strong light, so exposure from a south window may be too much for yours. Move it to the side of the window so the direct rays of the sun do not fall on the leaves at any time during the day. Bright indirect light is best.

The deformed leaves may also be caused by root problems. That could be excessive dryness or roots wandering out of drainage holes or roots that are too cramped. Without seeing the entire pot and plant, I cannot give a definitive diagnosis.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
