Toxicity of Lisianthus

Question
I recently bought a Lisianthus. Ever since I brought it into the house, my cat won't leave it alone. She doesn't bother any of my other plants at all, but she finds this one irresistable for some reason. I would rather get rid of the plant than have anything happen to her. I have been looking everywhere for info. about this plant but I can't seem to find anything about it's toxicity. Yesterday, I discovered that the leaves have little tooth holes in some of them. Can you help?

Thanks,
Lorna

Answer
Lorna,

It is not on any lists on the internet as being toxic to cats but it is also not on any lists as not being toxic. It has been discussed as making cats seem inebriated. So it may have the effect of beer or wine. Not exactly toxic but an effect none the less. I would attempt to keep them separated for the sake of both the plant and the cat. Good luck.
