kalanchoe plants

Question
What type of potting soil is the best to use when I replant my plant? I also have bad luck with these plants yet love them any tips on how to take care of these plants the best way you can?

Answer
Maggie,

Do not repot your kalanchoe until after April 1st when the days are getting longer. This time of year the days are getting shehorter and if you repot now it will put your plant into shock. You need to do it between April 15th and June 15th. When you do repot it you can use 2 parts regular potting soil and add 1 part extra perlite for better drainage. The best tip I can give you on caring for a kalanchoe is to give it as much sun as possible. It loves the sun and will produce more flowers & stay healthier with more sun. Also, never let it sit with water in it's drain tray. Good luck.
