my bonsai has been left outside in the winter. it just has stems and there is no new growth. what to do?

Were you advised to leave it outdoors all winter? I need to know what type of bonsai tree you have? Is it a juniper or a pine tree? Also did you have it mulched in your garden or just sitting on a patio or a table? Can you email me a picture with your answer? Please answer my questions and I will give you my best advice.
