small spherical object that fell off of leaves

Question
There was a small ball-like object that fell off of one of my plants as I took it down to water like I do every day. It is a type of hanging house plant similar in look to wax plants but its vines grow longer. The object was a very lightweight and resembled honeycomb in appearance. I didn't know what it was so stepped on it and it made a bit of a crunching noise and turned into powder with what i crushed. Do you have any idea of what this could be?
Thanks!!!!

Answer
Lara,

It sounds like a paper wasps nest. You can see pictures of them at the following site: http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=995&bih=514&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=pape...

From your description I am sure it was abandoned by the wasps. It was probably started in the nursery where you got the plant. It has nothing to do with the plant. Good luck with your plants.
