QUESTION: can you please tell me the name and info on this plant?

ANSWER: candace,
It would help to know what part of the country (state - north south, et.) you are in.Without more pictures(close-up and farther away) and other info I can only make an educated guess. I am in southern NJ.

From your picture it looks (stems and foliage) like it might be in the Coleus Genus. A picture of the flower(if it is in bloom) helps tremendously. Plants are classified according to the structure of their flower.

I would advise you to take a picture or cutting of the plant to a local garden center in your area for a more positive ID of the plant. Please do let me know what it is if they can ID it.

I hope this information helps you find out what it is. Sorry I could not be more help to you.
Good luck,
Rick

QUESTION: well it hasnt got any flowers on it yet and i dont know if it does or not. i livein kentucky. i bought it at a road side flower sale so i dont know where it came from. i think it is beautiful though. thank you for your help i will attach more pictures for referance.

Answer
I still think it looks like a coleus(90% sure)...Type "red/purple coleus leaf" into your search engine and see if you can find a leaf that matches...Also type "coleus flower pictures" and see what the flower looks like...When your plant flowers (And it will easily with plenty of light outdoors)see if its' flowers look like the coleus flower. All coleus will have the same flower structure - long slender spike with numerous small flowers... if you cut a branch off the plant the center of the stem should appear watery not wood-like)...
