Winter protection for rosemary plant in Zone 6a

Question
I adore rosemary. I live in Northwest NJ. I have a beloved plant that I put in the ground this summer. It got so huge that I can no longer bring it indoors. Can you tell me EXACTLY how to prepare and protect it in the hopes of having it next spring? For example if you tell me to mulch I need to know how, etc. Thanks!!

Answer
Ellen:
The hardiest rosemarys are called "Arp & hardy hill. They will take -10 below. The others may make it thru the winters with protection from the north winds. Plant should be mulched with any soil additive that drains well. Place a barrier of burlap or slat fencing around it. Enclosed with wire & clear plastic with holes or opening in the top and and a few slits in the side. Give no water at all during the winter months.Full morning sun is a "must have" at all times. In the spring watch for new growth & prune 1/3 from the top down on each branch every 3 weeks. Fertilize with  liquid fish fertilizer from home depot/lowe's. Use liquid fish & seaweed combination if you can find it. Wait to hear from you next spring!!
